Edgewood College partnered with Madison College's School of Applied Science and Engineering Technology to create transfer pathways for students who are in certain technical programs to transfer to Edgewood to complete a bachelor's degree in physics, according to a news release.

“These pathways are designed for students who are interested technical careers, but also want the benefits of a liberal arts education,” Rachael Lancor, an associate professor of physics at Edgewood, said in the news release. “A liberal arts education teaches future technical leaders problem-solving and critical thinking skills in a variety of academic disciplines. This cross-training helps our graduates collaborate effectively in an increasingly interdisciplinary workforce. Liberal arts educated STEM practitioners also benefit from superior written and oral communication skills, which are invaluable to employers.”

The approved programs include automated manufacturing systems technology, mechanical design technology, electrical engineering technology, civil engineering technology and electromechanical technology. Students from Madison will qualify for a reduced set of general education requirements so that they can finish their bachelor's degree in two years.
