Fathers and sons took part in this year's 12-mile Troops of St. George Wisconsin River canoe trip recently.

They set out on the Wisconsin River on Saturday, Aug. 1, and Sunday, Aug. 2, a letter published in the Aug. 16 bulletin of Kenosha's St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church reported. The trip started at the Wisconsin Dells as the group covered approximately nine miles the first day.

The group camped on an island overnight before Fr. Campbell hosted Sunday Mass the following morning. They wrapped up the trip after enjoying breakfast.

The weather contributed to the trip’s success with temperatures in the upper 70s and sunny skies. The Wisconsin River also cooperated, helping the group paddle easier. Fr. Campbell’s brother, John, also participated in the trip. They enjoyed fishing, catching smallmouth bass and northern pike, which were later eaten by the participants.
