Madison Diocese Bishop Donald Hying promoted the "Go Make Disciples Live" event in a video published on YouTube on Friday.
"I want to share with you information about something that's exciting this spring after Easter, by means of Evangelical Catholic and the great work they do, not only in our diocese but throughout the country," Hying said. "A process of formation for those who want to learn how to better evangelize. We're now almost in our fourth year of Go Make Disciples and our parishes are continuing to grow with that fervor and that missionary spirit."
"Go Make Disciples Live" consists of three parts. The first is a session in four parishes (Madison Thomas Aquinas, Baraboo St. Joseph's, Lancaster St. Clements, and Fort Atkinson St. Joseph's) every Saturday throughout April.
The second part involves training groups (with in-person and virtual options) to develop social skills that will help with evangelization. The final part will be a special Mass at Monona's Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish on May 20.
Hying introduced the "Go Make Disciples" initiative in 2020, having requested every pastor to organize an evangelization team to help him achieve the initiative's purpose for Phase 1. For Phase 2, which took place in 2021, Hying asked each parish to develop an evangelization plan focused on the pursuit of leadership, holiness and preaching the Gospel.
In 2022's Phase 3, Hying asked each participant to evaluate how their plan was executed in the year prior before revising it for 2023.
"As we continue to embrace the mission of 'Go Make Disciples,' we call on God’s transforming power, poured out in the death and resurrection of Christ, to use us to transform the culture of our parishes and institutions from maintenance to mission, and to move every heart into a stance of missionary discipleship," Hying wrote in a letter to the diocese in 2022. "This effort is the worthy work of our entire lifetime, but we trust will bear great fruit in the salvation of our people and the abundance of grace given in Christ."
