Preregistration is now open for the Love Begins Here 2022 summer mission trips in Green Bay.
Love Begins Here posted on Facebook, saying, “Preregister now for LBH Summer 2022…a prayer-filled missionary experience mixed with a good helping of fun!”
Love Begins Here is a service trip for middle and high schoolers inspired by St. Mother Teresa’s life and service. Teens spend one week serving a local community in need. The Diocese of Madison began the program in 2009, and Green Bay decided to host its own missionary experience in 2017. In the last few years, more than 880 teens have participated in the program, providing more than 7,450 hours of service.
According to the Love Begins Here website, "Love Begins Here provides middle and high school youth with an opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ in a life-changing way through week long, local mission trips where they live in Catholic community and continue his work on Earth."
Love Begins Here believes in affecting change through community service and operating in a way that puts neighbors first. According to their manifesto, "We boldly take initiative to bring love to our neighbors, evangelizing with patience and joy. We are aware that when we close our eyes to our neighbor, it also blinds us to God. We encounter Him in those we serve. By putting God first in all we do, we live to serve others. Things of the world come last. We will find ourselves and come alive when we make a sincere gift of ourselves to our neighbors."
A High School Missionary member spoke highly of the mission trip, saying, "Love Begins here reminds me that true joy comes from following Christ in everything we do. I am able to live that out on LBH by going out of my comfort zone to help others, and I found joy in my work."
Group leaders can now preregister their groups.
