St. Patrick Catholic Community in Menasha, Wisconsin shared a note from the pastoral leader, Mary Krueger.

Krueger wrote about Carlo Acutis, the young Italian boy who has been beatified after his untimely death.

“I came across Carlo Acutis as I was preparing for my remarks to our soon-to-be confirmed young people on Oct. 11. He had just been beatified the day before, and laid in repose wearing jeans, a sweatshirt and a pair of Nikes,” Krueger wrote.

Acutis was born on May 3, 1991 and died in 2006 after a battle with leukemia.

"Carlo has a special love for God from a young age even though his parents weren’t especially devout. Carlo loved to pray the rosary. After he made his First Communion, he went to Mass as often as he could and made Holy Hours before or after Mass. He went to confession weekly,” Krueger wrote.

While he had a special interiorly spiritual life, he also lived out his faith as a witness to Christ, helping those around him.

Carlo would defend children who were bullied, particularly disabled students, and he even tried to bring them into his own family’s activities.

While Carlo was a holy young man, he was a normal kid in many ways, Krueger wrote. He was a lover of technology and enjoyed computer games. He also was a computer programmer and used his skills in order to help build a website to showcase Eucharistic miracles and share the Gospel and God’s love for the world.

Carlo’s body is buried in Assisi, as he was an admirer of St. Francis.

“Get acquainted with Carlo. Remember, we are all called to be saints and to live like Christ with whatever time we are given. May we all strive for sainthood and learn from Carlo’s example," Krueger wrote.
