In times of uncertainty – as all times must be uncertain for those who seek it – Christians have a certainty they can hold to, that those without faith lack, yet it is just as easy for Christians to forget that fact.

Pastoral administrator Bob Betz of St. James Catholic Church in Franklin, Wisconsin recently wrote to the congregation regarding the importance of not getting caught up in the troubles of the world to such an extent that they forget their ultimate and true hope.

“Paul reassured the Thessalonian community. Do not grieve like the other people who have no hope,” Betz wrote. “We are blessed with hope in the promise of life everlasting.”

And that promise is not only for the end of this life, but also a promise that holds true in the events of this life, he wrote.

“All our disappointments, our uncertainties, worries and fears give way to our faith that the Lord will be with us always,” Betz wrote. “God is with us now and he will be with us in the future, whatever that future holds.”
