Holy Spirit Parish in Stevens Point, Wisconsin shared a reflection from Rev. Steve Brice regarding the upcoming election.

In the matter of paying to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what he deserves, we must be keenly aware that our upcoming elections require an acknowledgement of God in our voting, Brice wrote.

“We have been listening to the guidance of our Bishops in their document Forming Conscience for Faithful Citizenship to discern what God is asking of us on Nov. 3. The Church offers us other guidance as well,” Rev. Brice wrote.

We can help to affect positive change in the lives of those in need by caring for God’s children everywhere. The World Mission annual collection is one way to empower missionaries to bring the good news of Jesus to those who are lacking the hope of God in their lives.

There is also a mission field here, as well. There are individuals who are wandering around and seeking for a place to belong. The Church is one such place where all children of God can find solace.

In RCIA, people who are looking for belonging are finding the Catholic Church and wanting to be confirmed as full members.

“If you or you know someone would like to explore the possibility of becoming Catholic or finish their initiation with the Sacrament of Confirmation, please contact me or the parish office,” Rev. Brice wrote.

There are also new RCIA team members who are helping to bring people into full communion with the Catholic Church.

“A couple of weeks ago a Deacon Bill and Mary Jo Holzhaeuser from the Superior Diocese came in to get a membership packet. They are moving to Stevens Point to be closer to family members Travis and Joanna Slattery,” Rev. Brice wrote. “They won’t actually make the move physically until the end of the year. But thanks to the wonders of technology they will be able to join our RCIA team even while still in Ashland.”

Let us always remember in all things that we are the image bearers of God, he wrote.
