During a day and age of "instant," Deacon Russ Cabak of St. Bartholomew and St. Mary Catholic Churches in Wisconsin question where the room for thoughtful time and space for prayer with God is.

"Where do we have time and space to connect via prayer with our creator God? Is your interior voice of God being heard within your daily thoughts or are they just pushed aside to satisfy your worldly thoughts and desires? You almost need to flip a coin to decide to make your decision," Cabak said in the churches' bulletin. "If you are reading this today, your interior voice of God is calling you out to listen more often to his thoughts. No opinion, photo, status, just a message of paternal love. So as we read and comprehend the Gospel of Matthew, we hear Jesus listening to the Pharisees plotting and saying to him. 'And you are not concerned with anyone’s opinion, for you do not regard a person’s status. Tell us, then, what is your opinion: Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not?' Knowing their malice, Jesus said, 'Why are you testing me, you hypocrites? Show me the coin that pays the census tax.'"

Afterwards, they gave Jesus a Roman coin with Caesar's face on it. In response, Jesus tells them to give to Caesar what is Caesar's and give to God what is God's.

"Today’s readings insist that we must be aware that God is at work in our age with even politicians and in those who govern countries," he wrote in the bulletin. "God is truly almighty and is able to bring about good in every situation even when we or those who govern resist his Word."
