St. Charles Borromeo in Chippewa Falls shared a note from the pastor on the 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Rev. Gorman wrote that on World Mission Sunday, it is when we remember the call to make disciples of the whole world and proclaim the good news.
Pope Francis calls the Church, in this year, to be a missionary who is open to God's sending of us into the world.
"Let us ask ourselves: Are we prepared to welcome the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives, to listen to the call to mission, whether in our life as married couples or as consecrated persons or those called to the ordained ministry, and in all the everyday events of life?" Pope Francis' statement said.
We must be open to listening to God's call for our lives, just as Mary did, no matter the personal cost to ourselves.
Let us pray for the movement of our hearts to be in alignment with what God has called us to in this life.
Pope Francis understands that this year has been a particularly challenging one, as we have not had the ability to gather together for the celebration of the Eucharist, but we must be willing to serve him in whatever way we can.
"The celebration of World Mission Day is also an occasion for reaffirming how prayer, reflection and the material help of your offerings are so many opportunities to participate actively in the mission of Jesus in his Church," Pope Francis stated.
Rev. Gorman called the congregation to pray the rosary for all who have been harmed by recent catastrophes and to pray for the nation and the election that is impending.
"Pray for greater respect for human life and dignity and, as always, pray for peace," Gorman wrote.
