Human life demands respect and protection, Archbishop Jerome Listecki wrote. | stock photo
Archbishop Jerome Listecki said that there is a right answer when it comes to the abortion debate, according to a church bulletin for St. Anthony Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls.
Listecki wrote that the law that passed in New York that allowed abortion up until the moment of birth is disheartening.
"Is this the witness to Christianity and its teaching that our forefathers envisioned for our nation?" Listecki said.
As part of the pro-life debate, Listecki has respectfully listened to those who defended the killing of the unborn and they argued that women had rights over their body, freedom to choose and that the baby was not a baby and was, instead, a collection of tissue at that point, he wrote in the bulletin.
"In our own personal lives, when we choose to do evil, there are consequences. It is called 'sin,'" Listecki wrote. "When we choose to do evil as a society, there are consequences. There is a collective responsibility."
Listecki said Christians must make their voices heard and make sure it's known that human life demands respect and protection.
