Pastor Carmelo Giuffre touches on "going low" with spiritual power, according to a church bulletin for St. Veronica Parish in Milwaukee.
Giuffre began with a story from when he was a teenager playing flag-football. He noted that his father taught him a low stance and that when it came to football, the player who could crouch lower was usually more able to hold his ground than the other. He said this was the same thing with God.
"Crouching low in humility gives us a strategic advantage," Giuffre wrote. "At one point, the disciples hadn’t learned that lower was better! They argued about who was the greatest among them. But in God’s kingdom, Jesus writes the rules. He equates receiving a lowly child with receiving Him."
He said going low is powerful because we will always find Jesus when doing so. He said taking a lower place beside Jesus is the best way to go because Christians do not need to get the last work in or protect a position.
Giuffre also reminded parishioners to stay socially distanced, wear masks and stay protected from both COVID-19 and the flu.
