A Unite Our Nation concert and Eucharistic procession is scheduled next month at a Kenosha church.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 4 at 2:30 p.m. at St. James Church, 5804 Sheridan Road, and is open to the public.
The event will kick off with a concert and end with a Eucharistic procession, led by clergy, and a prayer over a patriotic rosary that represents all 50 states. It is included in the national Unite Our Nation initiative but is considered family friendly and a non-political event.
The Unite Our Nation event hopes to promote and encourage peace and prayer in Kenosha. It is hosted by multiple event organizers, including Mike Nuzzo, who leads the event.
“In these challenging times, we want to pray for unity and peace in Kenosha and our world," said Nuzzo in a news release. "When we bring Our Lord and the Blessed Mother out of the churches and into the streets of America, we create a powerful witness.”
Unite Our Nation was created to bring peace, unity, and harmony to local neighborhoods and communities throughout the country. The organization is patriotic and believes that processions and events will help reduce violence.
Kevin O’Brien of Milwaukee helped launch Unite our Nation as an answer to recent local and national unrest and violence.
"We were seeing the rioting and this culture of hate and division and I said, 'What is this?'" he previously told the Wisconsin Catholic Tribune. He gathered with others to create Unite Wisconsin, which is now known as Unite Our Nation.
Roughly 3,000 people attended the organization’s first event last month.
"Your presence is a witness of Christian courage," O’Brien told the audience, as previously reported. "We need that right now more than ever. We need men and women to stand up for truth and goodness. Again, we have the fullness of the faith, we have the power, we don’t need to cower in fear. We can come together and we can unite to truly make a difference.”
