St Mary Magdalene Parish (Johnson Creek) recently issued the following announcement.

Our salvation is built on the foundation of forgiveness. As Christians we hold dear that God forgives us freely and without reservation. As those who are forgiven, we are expected to forgive. We are challenged to let go of our grudges and the wrongs we have experienced. 

Jesus challenges us to forgive from our hearts. The number seven in Scriptures denotes fullness or completeness. Peter is being generous in offering to forgive seven times. Jesus teaches that God’s forgiveness is beyond limitation, even seventy times seven; our willingness to forgive should be likewise. From the time of Sirach the lesson is clear, forgive and you will be forgiven.
