St Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr recently issued the following announcement.
Our Lady Queen of Martyrs
Tuesday, September 15th, is the feast day of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs.
This image of Our Lady is in a ceiling painting, on the epistle side, near the front. She is pictured with a palm frond in her hand, the universal symbol of martyrdom.
This is also the feast day of The Seven Sorrows of Our Lady.
The Blessed Virgin Mary is the queen of martyrs primarily because of her virtual martyrdom during the passion and death of Jesus.
Martyrs are often pictured holding the instruments of their suffering. In the pieta, Mary is shown holding her dead son.
