Saint Patrick Parish School in Hudson will welcome students back to school in the classroom on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
"We are taking extra steps in cleaning, disinfection and sanitizing," Principal Dan Bell told the Wisconsin Catholic Tribune.“We have capped our classes to ensure physical distancing."
The school added space for Early Childhood programs as another safety measure, Bell told the Tribune. Bottle filling stations have been added to drinking fountains to limit contact, and floors have been marked to help students maintain physical distance. Additional recess and lunch sessions will also limit the number of students gathered at any time.
Students from early childhood to eighth grade can enroll at St. Patrick Parish School.
“We have modified our schedule to limit the number of students traveling at a time or the amount of times they travel through the building,” Bell said to the Tribune. “We are also using multiple entrances and exits for our students.”
Access to the building will be limited to staff, students and essential visitors.
“Our families have been very positive about our plans for returning,” Bell told the Tribune.
Volunteers helped Bell get the school ready for the new school year, a post on Saint Patrick’s Facebook page said. They put tape lines on floors to give students social distancing guidelines, repainted playground lines and moved books to the library.
The school will hold its Uniform Exchange Program in the cafeteria on Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 26, from noon to 8 p.m.; and Thursday, Aug. 27, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., another Facebook post reported.
Clean, gently used uniforms approved for the 2020-2021 school year can be brought to the school before the exchange. Families can visit the exchange before or after visiting their classrooms. Uniforms will be categorized on racks in the cafeteria.
