St. Pius X Catholic Church in Appleton is bidding farewell to the Rev. Kennedy Gaspar this summer, sending him off with a show of gratitude for his dedicated work at the parish.

On Saturday, Aug. 1, following the 4 p.m. Mass, and again on Sunday, Aug. 2, after the 10:30 a.m. Mass, parishioners will have the opportunity to participate in a walk-through line to thank Gaspar and wish him well – keeping within the confines of COVID-19 restrictions – according to the July 12 church bulletin. In case of rain, the send-off will be held downstairs in the Holy Family Hall.

Those wishing to donate toward a gift can do so by reaching out to Donna Armstrong in the parish office.

Gaspar expressed gratitude to the parish staff and congregation in a letter published in the bulletin. He also thanked the staff of the Faith Formation and School, and wrote that he's been made to feel welcome at St. Pius X since his very first day there.

“I am truly blessed because I am here to do the will of God, who chose me for His ministry, blessed because the people around me are so loving, kind, helpful and prayerful,” Gaspar wrote. “Even though I miss my family in India, you made me a part of your family. I am really going to miss all of you. Your kindness, support, encouraging words, helping hands, spirituality and smiling faces helped me do my ministry in a fruitful way.”

While he regrets leaving, Gaspar acknowledged his duty to his faith as he goes to continue God’s work at St. Joseph Parish in Crandon, and invites anyone who is ever in the area to stop by and visit.
