With homelessness increasing in Wisconsin, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is asking for donations of camping supplies such as tents and sleeping bags.
“By all reports, this is becoming a record-breaking month for homelessness in the Twin Ports,” the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) announced in the June 28 bulletin of the Superior Diocese. "Whatever the cause — lack of affordable housing, unemployment, drug abuse, mental illness — people are struggling to obtain shelter.”
COVID-19 government-related resources to shelter the homeless “are nearly depleted” locally, the notice said.
“Our society will assist as we can to provide shelter,” the SVdP added. “If you have any camping supplies to donate (tents, sleeping bags) please call us. Pray that together we can impact the causes of homelessness in our community and pray for those who lack this basic human need.”
Superior Diocese includes congregations in Superior, Lake Nebagamon and Foxboro.
